That was the most fun I have ever had learning about something I will never ever have use for. Kudos for a funny-ass flash.

I don't understand how this made front page. For a while I thought maybe they drew the pictures themselves, but apparently they didn't do anything except for take a bunch of pictures, music, and the occasional fart sound from the internet and put them together. You are not missing anything by not watching this. I don't even understand how this represents the quality or humor that is typically found in front page submissions on Newgrounds. To whoever is in charge of front page content: what the hell? How high on drugs were you to think that making this front page was a good idea? Suck a fat one for this one Newgrounds.

Being a tuba player myself (and thus a fan of Sousa marches) I really appreciated the work you put into this game. Although not all of the entrances of the enemy intruments lined up with what instruments where entering musically I really enjoyed watching it happen when it did line up. Even if some of the gameplay could be a little better (addressed below) this game is interesting enough when looking simply at the artistic side of this game. I actually found this game to be a breath of fresh air from all the other more stereotypical games.
The only way the gameplay was lacking was that everything happens way to fast. I can understand that the speed of gameplay highlights the faster more brisk tempos of Sousa's marches, but at the same time there were too many enemies shooting too often with shots that moved too fast across the screen. It was simply too much to be able to react to the enemies' shots. It also was unexciting just holding down the space bar the whole time. These two elements mostly made the game into a "move your tuba around while holding down the spacebar and hoping not to be shot by chance."
Honestly, I absolutely loved this game for how unexpected it was and how intricate the design was and how artistic it was. I would love to see more games like this. Perhaps you could even do a whole series of them using various syphonies and other well-regarded classical music...just think of all the possibilities. Anyway, thank you for this game.

"Nice menus, but lacking content (as usual)"
I liked the menus, but they weren't at the same level of quality as the toons, which is why you mostly got 5's.
The toons, of course, were mediochre at best. The animation was lame, most of them lacked any sort of entertainment value.

Now for the comment. I'm sorry for posting this as a comment, but I feel that a direct email is too personal and this doesn't need to be personal.
In another review you stated that part of a good review is "advice for improvement." Honestly, an improvement would be you waiting until you had decent toons before making a submission instead of wasting everyone's time by submitting garbage.
Also in a response you wrote that "these movies pass judgement on there own and it's not my fault if they get blammed or protected." But I honestly have no idea how this one made it into the portal "on their own." I watch flashes get blammed all day, some of them are as bad as these ones were today, while others get blammed simply because they aren't quite ready to be accepted (like because they are still unfinished). I know that the only way these keep getting accepted is because of a group voting policy where everyone in the Syndicate votes high to get entries past the portal. You can pretend it doesn't happen or just ignore this review all together.
You may flag this review as abusive if you would like, but I believe that what your syndicate does is also abusive. Passing "bad" animations is an abuse of voting on newgrounds, as far as I'm concerned. It is abusive that you use this power to pass dozens of bad submissions while others submissions are blammed because they don't have the "protection power" of a group like the Syndicate. That is the real abuse.

So you know how to do all the fatalities in Mortal Kombat? Is that the point of this flash? I don't understand what your point is...
Author's Response:
Man, the point is, it is for people who don't have the game. So they can see the Fatalities. Honestly it doesn't take a genius to figure that out!

Lose the disclaimer, you know that when you submit this to Newgrounds you are submitting it to EVERYONE, not just a specific demographic. If you want reviews by people who are guarenteed to like sprite movies, then submit your work at a site. Lose the disclaimer, it is not appropriate and just makes your work seem a little less professional.
Also, maybe run your script through a spell-check before you call it final."Analyse" is spelled "analyze" and develop doesn't have an "e" at the end.
Other than that (from only watching the first half) I enjoyed it!

My only advice to you is that, since this game is somewhat of a parody on DDR, you should make it work so the letters line up with the beats. That was my biggest objection. Otherwise there is nothing really similar about it to DDR except for the scrolling part.
Author's Response:
You have any idea how to do that? I dont think flash has anyway to get info from audio... (that i know of) and the only way that I could think of is to make an animation for each song... which would have to line up to the beat... and sadly i have no sense of rythem for that... :(

"I liked this flash when it was still underground."
I say that because I am absolutely sure that this is going to make it on the top 50 and, eventually, become a Newgrounds classic. Conratulations (in advance for making the top 50) and excellent work!
Graphics, style, sound were all 10's because you stuck to the original sound and appearance and style of the games you featured.
Violence gets a 1 because there is some slapstick, but nothing beyond that.
Humor is 9 because a few of your jokes didn't make me laugh, but the ones that did were HILARIOUS.
10/10, baby!

Graphics and style are 5's because its not bad drawing, but its not great drawing either.
Sound 7 because the voices were clear and seemed fine to me.
Interactivity is 2 because because your other two buttons didn't work. Only 2 worked and it gave me the impression that your flash didn't work, even though now that I look at it, the title makes it clear that that was intentional (but still take out the other two buttons).
Humor is 9 because I laughed even though I never even played the game.
Overall score I'd say an 8 just because that sounds about right :)
Good job.
